The EN-EL3a is a works fine and with no problems. HOWEVER, AMAZON IS MISLEADING ITS CUSTOMERS BY PUTTING A LOWER PRICE FROM A PARTNER COMPANY AS THE PRIMARY PRICE OF THE ITEM. Amazon should market the item at it’s price and show the partner price as an option unless the item can only be obtained from the partner. The 2 stars is not for the item but for amazon’s misleading advertisment.

I am unable to comment on the effectiveness of the product as it was given to my daughter(an accomplished amateur photographer)as a gift. I can only attest to the fact that the product arrived on time in good condition and was exactly what my daughter had requested on her holiday gift wish list.

I cannot adequately do a review because I have not received my order! It should have already arrived, but I have not heard anything about it. Please advise.

It is what it is. Genuine Nikon product for your genuine Nikon camera. Works just like it should. Works just like the one that came with my camera. Amazing battery life on my D50. I’ve had it for a few years and have had minimal reduction in capacity. I have no experience with off branded EN-EL3s so don’t have a second baseline for comparison.

Get a spare. Because battery meters are still terrible and don’t tell you until it’s too late that you’re battery is low. A spare will solve that. I carry two.
