As the disabilities host on Bellaonline, I recommend this book. This book covers Cerebral Palsy, and what it is like to have a child with cerebral palsy. It talks about the family dynamics, how to encourage your child to be independent, how to handle friends, and how to discuss the disability.

I’d recommend this book to both parents and educators.

As a mom of a 16 month old with moderate CP, I found this book to be a great starting place. It will not overwhelm you with all the “bad stuff” but introduces you to what life may be like with a CP child.

It also discusses how having a special needs child will mesh within the family, including dealing with extended family, siblings and future siblings (this was the only book I read that discussed this issue), schooling, etc.
