I decided to splurge on my 2.5 year-old and buy him this trike – I thought it would be the Cadillac of trikes. Though it has been okay, it is not stellar. My husband assembled it, and could not get the screw that secures the bucket latch in. We thought the screw was the wrong size, though a Kettler rep has since told me this screw is self-threading and significant force is needed to insert it. Anyway, we took the trike to the hardware store to buy a new screw, but unfortunately since Kettler is a German company, they use metric screws, which are not available here in the US. So we have been using it without the rear bucket, which has been fine. I think a basket would have been much more fun than a bucket anyway. But now we have lost a nut & washer for the bolt that secures the seat to the frame. So for now the trike is unrideable, until parts from Kettler USA arrive :( I really do regret buying from a German company – an American product would have been so much easier!

we had trouble with the first shipment where the thread was stripped, but after a replacement model arrived (great amazon customer service as usual), have been happy with the product. spend the extra $$$ to get this model which will grow with your kids.

the steering alignment could be better (not a teutonic bmw-like at all) as it takes a lot of effort to steer for the child. also, the separate basket doesn’t stay on as well as we’d like over bumps.

otherwise, don’t buy the basket online as the shipping is prohibitive.

The trike costs more (a lot more) than others but will outloast anything in the market. german quality at its best. The marketing from kettler could be better as its hard to differentiate between the different trike variants.

The first Air Navigator I received was so scratched up(frame) I had to send it back. The next one I received was not scratched on the frame but the front fender was totally scratched up. In addition there is a key component to keep the little dump container up and it was broken but looked as if someone attempted to glue it with no success.

I simply feel that for $200 this tricycle should be flawless…

I do think the overall quality is good and should be for the cost of the product. The assembly directions are terrible.

Overall I am certain my son will like the tricycle very much.

I bought this trike when my son was about 1.5 yrs old. He couldn’t pedal back then, but I attributed that to his young age and was okay just pushing him. Now, he’s almost 3 and still has a lot of trouble pedaling, not because he can’t pedal, but because the pedals are still not close enough. He’s about average size for his age. Also, it is difficult to navigate when pushing this trike. On the positive side, the air filled tires make it a nice ride. If I had to purchase a trike again, I would save my money and buy a Radio Flyer.
