This is a great idea. The book comes with an About-the-Author page just like real published books! Everything that you need to write and draw is provided in the kit and the instructions are very easy to follow. In just a few weeks you get back a real hardcover book! Terrific! The instructions are easy to follow and the quality of finished book is exceptional!
We love writing our stories, drawing the pictures and then having it all published in a real book with our words typed on the page. Then we show the books to all our visitors. It is a real fun. We do a new book every year and our library is growing… I think this is one of the greatest gifts I ever getting. My recommendation for older children (over 10) is Why Some Cats are Rascals ( Book 3). It is a great story very inspiring and full of information from history, geography, etx.

I purchased this for the 6yr olds in our family. They really liked the idea, but it was a bit much with all the prep work. They really just wanted to write and draw, not fill out forms.
I would purchase this for children older than 6 years old.

My 8 year old daughter absolutely loved getting this. We had never seen something like it before. The materials are high quality and the instructions are clear and easy to understand. We haven’t had a chance to send it in due to the perfectionist working on it but we can’t wait to see the finished product.

I got this for my 5 year old grandson for Christmas. He, with his dad’s help, work on this one full day. They mailed it in and he got it back yesterday (less than a month). He had to call me and tell me all about it. He read HIS book from cover to cover and excitedly read the page naming him as the author. My grandson is in kindergarten and loves to read and draw. So this was the perfect gift for him.
