Although the stethescope isn’t as loud as a real one, it was obviously designed that way for safety purposes. A real one–or one that works as well–could be VERY dangerous for a child’s ear because sound is magnified so much. If someone yelled or talked loudly into one that worked too well, it could damage that child’s eardrum.
We bought several, so that all the kids in the family (ages 3-8) could role-play. They have really enjoyed using all the medical equipment for imaginative treatments of their various patients.
For the value, this is a great doctor’s kit. It’s got everything a kid needs, except a doctor or nurses coat which you can buy separately. The pieces are colorful, simple and sturdy. The only problem is that the band on the blood pressure guage doesn’t fit anyone’s arm. The velcro is in a wierd spot so you can’t get it tight enough to stay on. Apart from that, all the pieces are fun. My three year old daughter loves to play with it even though she’s had it for two years. And my nine month old son loves to chew on some of the pieces.

You really get what you pay for with this toy. It has a stethoscope, syringe, blood pressure cuff, thermometer, band aid and a little carrying bag. Our two year old really likes the pieces (especially the syringe) and I think it is great for the price that we paid.
The pieces are quality plastic with decent colors that don’t look like they will fade.

I bought this for my son and niece, now i don’t know what my niece thinks of it but my son like to play with it alright. He is not too interested in it, he likes the real thing better. I don’t like the thermometer in this pack, i just don’t think its realistic. The cuff is kind of cheap and it barely fits around someones arm.

This toy is perfect the way it is.
