Wow! That’s all I can say. I picked this game up with such high hopes, even the reviews were great. Apparently the people who rated this game so high have never played an RPG in their life. You level up randomly? Are you serious? Who thought of that? They should be fired. I have been a FF fanboy since the beginning, but this is by far the worst disappointment in the series. I keep looking on the internet to find some kind of hidden exp system, but none exists. So I make it to the final boss and am not anywhere near powerful enough to defeat him. So I try and level up for a while and no go there either. I gotta wait until the game decides to give me three sevens, and at this point I don’t think it’ll ever happen. I’m going to give this to someone I don’t like next year for Christmas instead of coal, because this is much much worse. Thanks, but no thanks. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF YOU ARE A TRUE FINAL FANTASY FAN!

An absolutely amazing game with a great plot. By far the best ff game I’ve played since ffvii, probably cause its connected.

If you haven’t played this game you need to.

My title says it all, if you like God of War you will like Chains also. The graphics are very good and the controls worked better then I had expected, but the game is about a chapter or two too short. I expected about ten hours of game play and Chains clocked in at only about seven. A good game, would have been great if longer, but not a must play if you have to pay full price.

Having had any love for Final Fantasy 7 dashed upon the rocky shores of cosplaying idiots and horrific fan-fiction, I was understandably nervous when I opened this game. Visions of 300 lb Tifa wanna-be’s and thousands of unwashed Sephiroth imitators rampaging through the streets flooded my mind as the game loaded. Fearing the worst, I began to play.

My hopes and fears are both realized in the first hour of play. Engaging and intuitive gameplay kept me joyously enraptured wih the storyline, but the game almost prophesizes the return of imbecilles in bad costumes. The storyline is easy to follow, and engaging, and unfortunately lends many openings to the same homo-erotic fan-fic garbage that polluted Final Fantasy 7.

As a game: Top notch. As a foundation for more nightmarish fan hobbies: a death sentence.
